As a professional counselor, my focus in on developing therapeutic relationships based on acceptance and understanding. In nearly 10 years in the field, I’ve had the opportunity to work within a variety of communities and with clients from varying backgrounds and ages. During this time, I have assisted families in chaotic home environments and worked with foster, adoptive, and blended families to develop cohesion and provide support for both parents and children.
In more recent years, my training has shifted to working with children on the Autism Spectrum. I have had experience with many dually diagnosed youth with secondary diagnoses of Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Trichotillomania, ODD, etc. While working in the field with this population, I have also had extensive experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Selective Mutism, Separation Anxiety, ADHD and other emotional/behavioral difficulties. I have provided individual and family services and specialized in working with siblings of children on the spectrum and also with providing Therapeutic Social Skills Groups to children from age three to teens. I am also currently working towards becoming certified as a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) to provide specialized behavioral treatment for young children with behavioral difficulties and to work within early intervention services.
My goal as a licensed professional counselor is to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment to foster awareness and create change. I put a strong emphasis on developing effective coping strategies and communication skills to assist each individual with managing the various difficulties they are experiencing or will encounter.
